Let's get into today's preview and tips.

Jehani takes aim at John Smith's Cup

A maximum field of twenty two runners line up for the John Smith's Cup Heritage Handicap.

Quai De Bethune is worth backing again having run fine at Epsom Oaks Day. The ground went too soft and it turned out to be a nice run to blow the cobwebs away. It was his first run since winning the Golden Gates Stakes Handicap at Royal Ascot 2025. He came from off the pace to win a nose hitting the line strongly that day. The extra half furlong on summer ground looks ideal at York for this four-year-old.

Rob Hornby rides for new owners Wathnan racing as James Doyle is on duty at Newmarket. Quai De Bethune has a good draw in stall six and is in receipt of weight from most ahead on him in the betting. Last season he finished a close third behind Saddadd in the London Gold Cup which is red hot form.

Warrant Holder, Raammee, Castle Stuart and Thunder Run were on the shortlist. The first two are too short in such a competitive race. Castle Stuart finds it hard to win while Thuder Run is not hiding much from the handicapper!

York 3:45

1 point each way Quai De Bethune 10/1 Bet365 else 9/1 Paddy Power, Skybet, Boylesports & Unibet, all paying 6 places.

Best of Luck, Nicky

Latest winner: Urban Lion @ 12/1
