Let's get into today's preview and tips.

Crest of Fire Ready to Ignite the Silver Bowl

A maximum field of seventeen runners for the Silver Bowl heritage handicap at Haydock park.

Crest of Fire is a front-runner, as he demonstrated when winning easily on his seasonal return at Southwell in March — his first run following a winter gelding operation. With limited pace in this field, jockey Edward Greatrex should have no trouble crossing to the rail from the break.

His three-year-old form marks him as well handicapped. He finished fourth, beaten two lengths by Laureate Crown on quick ground over seven furlongs at Ascot, and now meets that rival on ten pounds better terms over the mile — a distance that suits him well.

McMurray beat Crest of Fire twice last season, including a neck verdict off level weights at Doncaster in September on good-to-soft ground. However, McMurray's recent Chester Festival win came off a rating of 89, which suggests Crest of Fire is well handicapped here off a mark of 86. He looks to have pounds in hand and enough to land this valuable prize.

Haydock 2:20

1 point each way Crest of Fire 9/2 Unibet, Betway & Paddy Power, 4 places.

Best of Luck, Nicky
