Betfred Suffolk Stakes Heritage Handicap Preview..

Hi Reader

The first classic of the year takes place at Newmarket on the Rowley Mile.

It's a difficult race to assess with several fancied horses missing the race due to setbacks.

We take aim at the earlier heritage handicap over a mile and a furlong. I am looking for an improved performance from a four year old following his good comeback run last month.

Ok, let's crack on with today's preview and tips.

Tycoon on the Rowley Mile

Only thirteen runners out of a maximum twenty five are declared to run.

Mister Wilson is the obvious one however too short. Instead, I think Tycoon is overpriced following his fifth-place finish behind Mister Wilson in April. The bigger field and extra furlong will suit Tycoon better than the mile distance.

He came home well over the mile in April having raced mainly over ten furlongs last season. Tycoon won on fast ground at Windsor over a year and it has gone quick at Newmarket. The Lost King is another four year old that could progress into a pattern class racehorse this season. I just feel that the betting market has ignore the Kevin Philippart De Foy trained son of Kingman who stays well.

Newmarket 2:20

0.5 point each way Tycoon 18/1 generally, 4 places.

Best of Luck,

Nicky
